Tulip Team Holds Vigil In Honor Of Those Struggling With Mental Health Issues

A moving vigil on the Fontbonne campus in honor of those struggling with mental health issues. Our Tulip Team recently celebrated those who have lived through suicidal thoughts or actions. Team leaders read personal reflections on important words necessary for living with mental health issues: hope, strength, faith, and healing. The leaders lit a candle for each word, and then invited guests to come forward and light their own candles from the candle of the word that they want to incorporate into their lives in 2020. The purpose was to remind everyone, especially those who are struggling, how much they are loved and valued.

Fontbonne's Tulip Team is a chapter of the Yellow Tulip Project.  The group's mission is to smash the stigma surrounding mental illness and to build a community of people who realize that hope happens when youth and community leaders work together.  The hope of the Yellow Tulip Project is that someday mental illness will be as normal to talk about as any physical illness, and are fiercely dedicated to making this goal a reality.
