Dignity Focused On During Student Enrichment Day

Our Monday, January 27th, Student Enrichment Day proved to be an impactful experience for our young women. The theme of the day was Dignity. Students and faculty began the morning in small groups. The session for Grade 9 was facilitated by Ms. Glorine Beauport ‘10. The focus was on diversity issues. Grades 10-12 took part in talks on understanding and practicing how to listen with empathy. Those discussions were led by Junior and Senior student leaders who prepared their own lessons to share.

The entire community then gathered in the CSJ Center for a conversation with Dr. Donna Hicks, PhD. Hicks is an Associate at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, Harvard University. She is the author of the book, "Leading with Dignity: How to Create a Culture That Brings Out the Best in People." The setting on stage was intimate as two student leaders, Sara Prophete ‘20 and Sydney Lunnin ‘21 led the conversation with Dr. Hicks. During the talk, a graphic artist was on hand visually detailing what was being discussed. The schoolwide conversation was powerful and provided our students with a safe space to share their thoughts and feelings. Some chose to stay after to continue to the conversation!
