“We’re all in this together!” It is truly fitting that is the title of the main song in Fontbonne’s 2021 Spring Production because that has been the school’s mantra since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. The Good Fountain Players upcoming virtual performance of Disney’s High School Musical is just another example of how Fontbonne has succeeded despite the obstacles of the pandemic and continued to provide students with educational experiences inside and outside the classroom.
Pre-COVID Fontbonne traditionally invites the community to our CSJ Center for two full weekends of spring performances by the Good Fountain Players. This year Ms. Janine Winters, Director of Fine Arts, knew that could not happen, but also wanted to make sure her drama students were given the opportunity to share their talents and grow in doing what they love. “Our students have worked so hard and shown such resilience and grace. I knew we had to come up with a way to ensure the show went on,” said Winters.
The show will go on! Ms. Winters and the Good Fountain Players joined forces with PB & Jay Recordings. The students performed all the scenes on campus and had them recorded. They then hit the recording studio and laid down the tracks to ensure COVID safety guidelines were followed. The team then worked together to create a virtual immersive theatre production of Disney’s High School Musical. “Ms. Winters and our Good Fountain Players looked outside the box and found a way to entertain the community during these unprecedented times,” said Ms. Maura Spignesi, Head of School. “Their determination and commitment to a spring show is just one of the many examples of how our young women at Fontbonne have worked together to overcome obstacles and achieve success.”
The production debuts online on Friday, April 30, 2021. Tickets can be purchased for $20 HERE. Each show streams only at the specified event date and time and cannot be viewed at any other time. Showtimes are 7pm on April 30th, May 1st, May 7th and May 8th and 2pm on May 2nd and May 9th.
