Fontbonne Welcomes 7th Graders for Fall 2021

FONTBONNE OPENS A 7TH GRADE
TO MEET THE NEED OF LOCAL FAMILIES SEARCHING FOR AN EQUITABLE, INCLUSIVE, AND RIGOROUS ACADEMIC PROGRAM

For nearly seven decades, Fontbonne, The Early College of Boston, has been educating and inspiring remarkable girls in grades 9 through 12. Following a long-standing tradition of anticipating and responding to community needs, Fontbonne will expand its academic curriculum to 7th grade girls in September 2021 and 8th grade girls in September 2022. This expansion demonstrates Fontbonne’s commitment to broadening access to excellent academic programs within an equitable, inclusive and diverse setting.

Fontbonne’s scholar-centered education and diverse student population prepares girls for the collegiate experience and fosters an environment to grow in self-confidence, develop problem solving skills, and forge a unique academic path, while cultivating lifelong relationships with peers, mentors and educators. Through a curriculum grounded in rigor, faith and opportunity, Fontbonne equips women with the necessary tools to find success, may that be in the foundational academic years, the Early College Curriculum of 11th and 12th grade or beyond the walls of Fontbonne as true leaders in their communities.

In announcing this new initiative, Maura Spignesi, Head of School, stated, “We believe in a vibrant, faith-based and holistic campus life that will prepare our 7th and 8th graders to take full advantage of the Early College Program. In expanding our curriculum, we are enhancing Fontbonne’s mission of providing exemplary education to students at a younger age. As a Sponsored Ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston, Fontbonne lives the call to model Gospel values of Respect, Responsibility, Reconciliation and Reverence in serving the dear neighbor without distinction. This is the Fontbonne difference.”

During the past year, as school leadership prepared to extend Fontbonne’s academic offer to include 7th through 12th grade girls, this initiative has received incredible support from a wide range of stakeholders, including our generous donors, partners and alumnae. “This academic expansion reflects the entire Fontbonne community’s commitment to educate girls at an early age. It is driven by our mission to ensure all girls have an inclusive education that prepares them to advocate for themselves and others to become Women of Courage made strong,” said Maureen Gemma, Board Chairwoman.

Our priority deadline for applications is Friday, June 4th, 2021. If you are interested in learning more about the 7th grade program, click HERE.
