The Fontbonne Select Chorus performed Tuesday at the annual Nollaig na mBan or Women’s Christmas. The event held at the Boston Harbor Hotel was sponsored by the Irish American Partnership. It celebrates women’s leadership within the family and community; highlighting Irish-American female leaders and the positive impact they have made worldwide.
The 2020 honoree was Ambassador Samantha Power. Power is the 28th U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. She was celebrated for her deep commitment to humanitarian causes and to public service throughout her outstanding career in journalism, academia, politics and diplomacy that has blazed a trail for the next generation of female leaders. During the breakfast, the audience was inspired by a conversation between Ambassador Power and Samantha Barry, Editor-In-Chief of Glamour magazine. Barry is a native of Cork, Ireland.
The event concluded with the performance by the Fontbonne Select Chorus. The Chorus was led by Mrs. Carol Fortier. This is the second year our Chorus has been invited to perform. The Irish American Partnership invited them back saying “they were such wonderful young women and so well-received.”
Fontbonne is proud to take part in an event highlighting and supporting such impressive female leaders.
