Ducks in Action Host Young Women's Empowerment Program

Ducks in Action Host Young Women's Empowerment Program

Fontbonne's service and leadership club, Ducks in Action, hosted a young women's empowerment program with middle school girls March 16.  For this full day program, Ducks in Action invited a group of 15 middle school girls to Fontbonne to learn the qualities that make a strong leader and ways girls can use their voice to lead.

Fontbonne juniors and seniors are involved in this group, which chooses a different demographic to focus on each year.  At the March event, the attendees participated in creating vision boards to help envision their futures, project obstacles they may face whilst reaching their goals, and how to overcome them. They also role-played different leadership styles. This discussion culminated in a fun escape room activity where each girl had to participate in solving empowerment-themed clues.

At the end of the day, Ducks in Action filmed and interviewed the middle schoolers' take-aways from the day.  During the interviews, the participants were asked what leadership meant to them and what word would best describe a leader. Thank you to Ducks in Action for hosting this inspiring program for these young women.
