Service Requirement
Fontbonne Academy implemented a service program in 1996 to give students
an opportunity to learn more about their faith, to put their faith into
action by working for justice in our world, and to reflect on their experiences.
The Office of Mission & Ministry oversees the service program. Students
are required to perform at least twenty-five hours of service each year
beginning in the 9th grade for a total of one hundred hours. Hours earned
beyond the annual 25-hour requirement will be carried over to the following
year. If a student has not completed the mandatory hours for that year,
she will receive a permanent incomplete on her report card and official
transcript. The 100 hours of service must be completed by the end of her
senior year in order for the student to receive her diploma and to participate
in graduation exercises. Student Officers of the Service Club also maintain
a bulletin board in the Office of Mission & Ministry, and have regularly
scheduled office hours to assist your daughter in finding service opportunities
and they can also help you daughter determine whether an activity qualifies
for service hours. Parents are encouraged to get involved with their daughter’s
service by learning about service opportunities and participating in these
opportunities with her. Students must record her service hours and write
a reflection on the form below, unless otherwise directed. Completed forms
should be submitted to the Office of Mission & Ministry.
