CLASSROOM POLICIES - MRS. LINARDI - YEAR 2007/2008
v School policies: During my class, all students must follow the school policies specified in the student handbook. This especially includes no tardiness, no gum/candy, and no eating in class. No food/drink will be permitted ever in the language lab.
v Readiness: Be in your seat before the second bell rings and have your class materials out and ready.
v Text and workbooks: Bring them to class every day or expect to be retained after school that day or the following day. Bring also a notebook, pens and pencils, and any other requested materials.
v Class participation: I expect that all students participate actively in the lessons, prayer, and all other classroom activities.
v Classroom behavior: Raise your hand to speak in class. Be respectful: do not speak while someone else, either teacher or another student has the floor. Ask permission to the teacher if you need to be excused from the room. Finally, remember that the teacher not the bell dismisses you.
v Homework: Will be assigned every day and this is essential to your academic progress. Late work will result in 10% credit loss, for each day that is overdue.
v Make-up work: Should be done immediately. The handbook policy sets the outside limit. Homework will be accepted up to five days after return. However, it is to your academic advantage to turn it in much sooner.
v Extra-help sessions: THE WORLD LANGUAGE DEPARTMENT has no official day for make-up work. You are welcome to come for extra help and/or make-up most afternoons after school, during my assigned SSC periods, or at other times by appointment.
v Grading policies: Grades will be posted regularly on the Internet. Please check them accordingly. Note: Use of machine translation programs available on the Internet or extensive reliance on any other outside resource is cheating/plagiarism and often easily recognizable. While you are encouraged to use a bilingual dictionary, you must complete assignments without the help of translation programs.
Quizzes will count once.
Tests will count twice.
Compositions are usually treated as a Quiz.
At the end of each term a grade will be given for the following:
· Homework that has been completed daily.
· Use of the Spanish language in class (oral participation is central to a language course).
v A note on prerequisites: In order to enter or continue the following school year in an honors track or elective level, students must meet all prerequisite grade requirements. Please refer to the program of studies.
Good luck and welcome to my class!
Please, sign on the lines below that you have received, read and discussed this letter and return one copy by September 10, 2007.
