Course Title:  English II

Instructor:      Elizabeth Joseph (ejoseph@fontbonneacademy.org)

Overview:  English II reinforces concepts taught in English I and focuses on the characteristics and purposes of the novel, drama, and on-fiction.  Poetry and the short story may also be studied. Literary terms learned in English I are reviewed; English II students are taught to look for and understand deeper meanings in literature.  Students in this class learn to write a thesis paper with an emerging voice.  Consequently, at the conclusion of this course, students who work diligently will be better able to think critically, speak confidently, and express their insights more effectively.
