Brazos Higher Education Service Corporation, Inc. - in conjunction with not-for-profit student loan providers, EFSI and AFC, have just launched the $50K Giveaway Scholarship Sweepstakes. Ten $5,000 scholarships are awarded to first-year college students to help pay for their fall 2006 educational expenses. This is free, no essay needs to be written, and eligibility is not based on GPA, major or financial need. Apply online at www.50kgiveaway.org until 05/31/07.

The Chinese Historical Society of New England announces the annual CHSNE/J.S. Waterman & Sons-Waring-Langone Scholarship – two scholarships of $500 per year, renewable for three years or until the student has finished college, whichever comes first. Criteria to be eligible are Chinese ancestry, resident of Eastern Massachusetts and acceptance to a college or university in New England. Deadline is 05/31/07. Applications are available in the Guidance Department.

Early Childhood Educators Scholarship Program – offers scholarships to interested students who will pursue higher education to work with young children such as infant/toddler, preschool and child care programs. Criteria include: a permanent legal resident of MA, a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen, be eligible under Title IV guidelines and not be in default of a federal or state loan or grant, enroll in an undergraduate degree program in Early Childhood Education, employed as an early childhood educator or is a licensed family child care provider in MA for at least one year, and continue employment while enrolled in the required degree program, and sign an agreement to continue employment as an early childhood educator or provider in MA upon completing the degree requirement, or repay funds as defined. There are certain eligible institutions defined as a regionally accredited public or private college or university in the Commonwealth of MA that offers an Early Childhood Education program of study or program in a related field. International Union of Police Associations, AFL-CIO – offers the Edward J. Kiernan Memorial Scholarship for high school seniors pursuing a career in law enforcement, labor relations or a related field. Need to have a parent or guardian who is a member of a union affiliated with the International Union of Police Associations, AFL-CIO. John F. Souza Photography College Scholarship Award – will award one first place winner a $1,000 scholarship award, one second place winner will receive an Apple iPod and two third place winners will receive a $100 gift certificate to the South Shore Plaza. Milton Junior Woman’s Club Scholarship – for high school seniors who have been residents of Milton for the past two years. Applications are available in the Guidance Department and the deadline is 05/05/07.

Mr. Tux/Squire Tux 2007 Scholarship – $1,000 awards will be granted to 100 high school seniors in the New England area. Selection of scholarship is based on academic record, participation in school and community service, work experience, personal education goals and outside activities. An official scholarship presentation will be held on the field of Fenway Park before the start of the Boston Red Sox game on Tuesday, June 12, 2007. Deadline is 05/01/07. Applications are available in the Guidance Department.

Mt. Washington Bank Scholarship Fund - Awards in the past have been for $1,000 for students who live in either South Boston or Dorchester. Deadline is 05/15/07. Applications are available in the Guidance Department.

National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame of Massachusetts Scholarship Program each year five to fifteen scholarships ranging in value from $1,000 to $3,000 are awarded to deserving students. Criteria used to evaluate applicants are: financial need, academic performance, leadership/peer group involvement, athletic involvement and essay content. Deadline is 06/15/07. Applications are available in the Guidance Department.

Regis College - Offers a Catholic High School Scholarship which every graduating senior from Fontbonne Academy will qualify for. For more information come to the Guidance Dept.
